Talk & Read Speech Pathology are a private practice offering services in the Greater Springfield region. We are passionate about providing evidence-based family-centred care. As our name suggests, Talk & Read Speech Pathology offer services for a range of communication and literacy difficulties to children aged 0 to 18 years.
We offer private speech therapy services in-person at our Brookwater clinic. Telehealth and mobile speech pathology may be available on request.
Vanessa Bormann is our practice owner and primary speech pathologist. Vanessa has experience working with literacy disorders (e.g., dyslexia and dysgraphia), developmental language disorder, early language intervention, AAC implementation, speech sound disorder, fluency (i.e., stuttering) and parent/teacher training. She has a particular interest in the teaching of reading and has previously supported schools to deliver high-quality reading practices to support all children to learn to read.
Reading and writing difficulties present differently in every child. We identify the key reasons your child is having difficulties and use high-quality intervention to target those areas.
Language difficulties can be identified in infancy while some difficulties will present later when language becomes more complex. We assess and treat all language domains (e.g., vocabulary, sentence structure and grammar, following directions, narrative, inferencing etc.)
We assess and provide therapy for articulation disorders, phonological speech sound disorders, Childhood Apraxia of Speech and phonological awareness difficulties. Children with speech difficulties are highly likely to experience literacy difficulties too.
Our speech pathologist is trained in Hanen More Than Words TM and is able to provide gold-standard treatment for social communication difficulties.
Fluency disorders can present at a young age and persist into adulthood. We can assess and provide therapy for stuttering across the lifespan. Our speech pathologist can provide Lidcombe Program therapy.
Some children may present with complex communication needs. High-tech AAC (e.g., speech generating device) or low-tech AAC (e.g., PODD book) may support their communication and allow for further opportunities to communicate. We can assess, trial and integrate AAC systems.
