Talk & Read Speech Pathology is a private practice supporting families in the Greater Springfield region. We are passionate about providing evidence-based, family-centred care that helps children thrive. As our name suggests, we offer services to support communication and literacy development for children and young people.

We provide private speech therapy services delivered in person at our Brookwater clinic, with telehealth and mobile speech pathology options available upon request.

Our clinic is conveniently located at Brookwater Shopping Village within Mells Care. We offer a welcoming reception and comfortable waiting area, with friendly staff on hand to support you and your family during your visit.

Vanessa is the practice owner and principal speech pathologist. She has broad experience supporting children with literacy difficulties, developmental language disorder, early language development, speech sound disorder, fluency, and AAC implementation. Vanessa also works closely with parents and educators, providing training to support consistent, effective intervention. She has a strong interest in evidence-based reading instruction and has previously worked alongside schools to strengthen whole-school reading practices and improve outcomes for all learners.
Reading and writing difficulties can vary significantly from child to child. We work to identify the underlying factors contributing to your child’s challenges and deliver high-quality, targeted intervention to address their specific needs.
Language difficulties may be evident in early childhood or arise later as language demands increase. Our services address all areas of language development.
Our services include assessment and intervention for articulation disorders, phonological speech sound disorders, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, and phonological awareness difficulties. These difficulties can impact literacy development if not addressed early.
We assess and support children with social communication difficulties, including challenges with social interaction, conversation skills, and understanding social language. These difficulties can impact a child’s ability to build relationships, participate in learning, and navigate everyday social situations.
We support children who experience fluency difficulties, such as stuttering, through comprehensive assessment and tailored intervention. These difficulties may impact communication confidence, classroom participation, and social interaction.
We provide assessment, implementation, and ongoing support for AAC systems, including low- and high-tech options. AAC can support children with complex communication needs to express themselves, engage with others, and access learning.
